Sand separators and sand traps

Filter-type and cyclone-type sand separators are available for well testing, hydraulic fracturing clean-up, coiled tubing and snubbing workover. Sour-service systems are offered at 5,000, 10,000, 15,000 and 20,000 psi to help protect downstream well testing equipment.

  • Vessel reference: ASME VIII, Division 2.
  • Flanges, fittings, piping and gate valves: API 6A.
  • Service reference: NACE MR-01-75.

Emergency shutdown systems

The emergency shutdown system (ESD) controls the surface safety valve on the flowhead. Manual or remote closure can be initiated in response to incidents such as a pipe leak, rupture or fire.

The system can also reopen the valve and, where required, control an additional surface safety valve upstream of the choke.

Steam heat exchangers

A steam heat exchanger raises the temperature of the oil, gas and water mixture before it enters the three-phase test separator.

Steam enters the shell and heats the fluid in the coil indirectly. The coil has upstream and downstream sections, with an adjustable nozzle between them to regulate flow and support heat exchange.

Surge tanks

Surge tanks support checks on separator oil flowmeter readings and measurement of oil production. During well clean-up without a separator or burner, low-pressure gas can be routed to a designated area.

The tank buffers crude oil from the separator so an oil transfer pump can supply the burner at an appropriate flow and pressure.

Measuring tanks

Measuring tanks receive oil and water discharged from the separator. Liquid-level readings are used to measure production, while the associated crude-oil transfer pump supports loading and fluid transport.

Oil transfer pump skids

Each crude-oil transfer skid carries two centrifugal pumps: one duty pump and one standby pump. The package includes an explosion-proof operating station, a valve manifold and union connections.

Gas-driven chemical injection pump packages dose chemicals into process equipment without requiring an electrical power supply.

Applications include oil exploration, offshore drilling platforms, refineries, power plants and water treatment facilities where explosion-proof equipment is required.
